{ Cocktail Party: Oscar Night }

There's something so glamorous about the Oscars. The red carpet, the dresses, the galas, the jewels...

Jennifer has wanted to host a proper Academy Award soiree for ages, and this year, she finally had the chance.

She and her husband invited friends to a Red Carpet Viewing, complete with cocktails, refreshments, games and plenty of fun.

A giant foam board Oscar welcomed guests to the party.

Party goers were photographed in front of an Oscar-themed step & repeat, just like on the real red carpet.

A handmade "And the Oscar goes to..." banner hung over the trivia question and ballot area - prizes awarded to winners.

Tealights and candles provide a soft glow in the lounge area... Check out the film wrapped around those votive holders for a special touch.

Jennifer hung a banner featuring the posters of the Best Picture Nominees over the viewing area, accented by hanging gold stars and DIY tissue paper poms.

There was champagne,

Popcorn,

And a buffet of yummy food, complete with an Oscar-themed cake.

And the cutest Oscar-themed cookies ever.

Yellow flowers and lemons gave bright pops of color to the decor.

And don't forget, pug-shaped cookies in honor of Oscar, the hostess' beloved pug dog, named after the coveted gold statuette.

{ Birthday: Dr. Seuss }

Our friend Janey, over at Me Likey Food, was kind enough to share these amazing pictures of her son's 2nd birthday party.

In a Dr. Seuss theme.

Heart.

If the Party Pug's human wasn't so insistent on a dinosaur party this year, we would be all over this idea, like... well, like a dog on a bone.

But I digress.

Here's the invitation - we love the rhymes.

No party is complete without a perfectly appointed refreshment table. Love the colors and the red, hanging lanterns.

Here's where it gets awesome.

Have you ever seen such adorable, themed food?

The menu included:
*One Fish, Two Fish (Not All Red & Blue Fish) - naturally colored goldfish
*Hop on Pop(corn) - seasoned popcorn
*Three Cheese Trees - cheese cubes stuck into foam tree forms
*Yertle, the (Caramel) Turtle - rolo pretzels with M&Ms
*Green Eggs, (no) Ham? -Janey bent a round cutter to get the right "fried egg shape" for these most-perfect cookies.

*There's a Wocket in my (Pita) Pocket - this Broccoli salad in mini pitas

*Yink Ink Drink - Pink lemonade, of course

And don't forget the chocolate fudge cupcakes with homemade Dr. Seuss toppers.

For decor, Janey got crafty with some "Bristol Board" (a heavyweight art paper) and markers.

These Who-Trees created the perfect ambiance.

And Janey projected images of Thing 1 and Thing 2 onto more Bristol Board, that she colored and cut out to place near the party entrance.

A real balloon offers a nice 3D pop.

A final wonderful touch? Janey says that all birthday parties are donation parties. She posted a sign, quoting The Lorax: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." and asked that donations go to a local food bank.

Beautifully done, on all counts.

Party Pug thanks Janey for sharing (and be sure to check out Me Likey Food for some great recipe ideas - Janey is quite the cook!)

{ Baby Shower: Sugar 'n' Spice }

Lydia wanted to throw this perfectly sweet baby shower for her friend, who was expecting a bouncing baby girl.

She went with a wonderful Sugar 'n' Spice theme, which she brought to life with a soft pink palette and delicious sweet treats.

All the details were DIY, like this hand-lettered sign.

Fresh roses served as the perfect accent for this sweet sign.

A clothesline on the mantle was perfect for displaying all the tiny new outfits with wooden pins.

Lydia made this little sneaker-topped diaper cake and corsage.

And we can't forget about the yummy spread, each item lablled with hand-lettered signs!

All kinds of desserts!

And custom cookies, too!

The colors were so soft and delicate, the details so feminine and sweet.

Lydia created this shower with lots of love, and it showed.

{ Girls' Night: Barbie Bunco }

The Party Pug is so excited to share this party first!

Seriously. It scores high points across the board, for originality, attention to detail, and four pug paws up for all-around awesomeness.

Tilly was hosting a Bunco Night for the girls, but she wanted to make it special.

We know, we know. What could possibly be more special than Bunco?

Check this out.

Festoons of feather boas...

Handmade bunco cards in hot pink, black and white amidst a scatter of diamonds and pearls...

Prizes and favors galore...

Tilly made sure every detail was just right.

From the colors...

to the perfect Barbie-themed touches...

to the sweetest little homemade wine charms the Party Pug has ever seen. On pink-sugar-rimmed glasses, no less.

And just in case you haven't fully swooned over Tilly's work, we present you with the most amazing thing ever.

The life-size Barbie box. From Mattel, of course. For all your photographic needs. Created by Tilly and her dad.

Tilly, herself, is modeling as the original 1950s version of the doll, and she has a fun group of friends who all dressed up as variations on the theme.

Standing ovation from Party Pug. We bet you ladies had a blast!
